  1. Purchase ready-made pillows at discount home goods or mass merchandise stores.
  2. Buy yarn to match the pillow, selecting about two or three different colors that go together well.
  3. Purchase the "Medley of Grannies" pattern collection. These patterns are ideal for creating these types of crochet-trimmed pillows, offering the greatest variety of unusual motifs and stitches.
  4. Crochet several motifs of a pattern and connect them together into a bigger design. See the pillows shown above. Notice how triangles are attached together to form hexagons, hexagons are joined to form large florals, multiple squares are joined into other striking designs. Experiment with creating different shapes by joining together multiple crocheted motifs.
  5. Weave all ends of yarn into the back of the work. Then steam-press the completed crocheted piece to flatten it a bit. If desired, crochet an edging row all around, like a simple single crochet row. (see the edgings in the "Basics Booklet", available FREE to Crochet Club members.
  6. Center the crocheted piece on top of the pillow and pin all around to hold the crocheted piece in place.
  7. Using regular sewing thread, sew the crocheted piece onto the pillow, making many small stitches all around.
  8. It would be GREAT to make "pillow collections" to give as gifts - 2 or 3 similar-colored pillows that complement each other well. These pillow gifts will no doubt be very much appreciated!
